The seating chart that solves itself.

Import your guest list, set your rules — who sits together, who absolutely doesn't — and SeatSmart's optimizer builds the chart. When the RSVPs change, it fixes itself with one move, not a redo.

Table 7 0.41 table cohesion
Optimizing…

How it works

You know your people. The algorithm does the geometry.

The average couple revises their seating chart 15 to 20 times before the wedding. Every other tool makes revision fourteen exactly as painful as revision one — drag, squint, second-guess, repeat. SeatSmart treats seating as what it actually is: a constraint problem with a best answer.

01

Import your guest list

Upload the CSV straight from The Knot, Zola, or a spreadsheet. Tag the things that matter: side, family, friend groups, the introverts, the VIPs, who needs an accessible seat.

02

Set the rules

Couples stay together. Divorced parents stay apart. Grandma sits near the exit, away from the speakers. Pin anyone, anywhere — the optimizer treats your rules as law, never suggestions.

03

Let it solve

The optimizer scores every possible pairing and builds the chart — right guests at the right tables, in the right seats, with a cohesion score you can see for every table. Override anything by dragging; it re-scores live.

The part nobody else built

RSVPs change. Your chart shouldn't shatter.

A late yes or a last-minute cancellation shouldn't cost you an evening. SeatSmart's re-optimizer finds the smallest possible fix — usually seating one person at the best open seat, occasionally one swap — and shows you exactly what it wants to change before it changes anything. Locked tables are never touched. Pinned guests never move. You approve every move, or none.

"Cousin Dana just RSVP'd yes. Table 4 has the seat, the right crowd, and her college roommate two chairs down. One move. Nothing else changes."

For wedding planners

The four hours you spend on every chart, given back.

You carry the seating politics for every client — the feuds, the factions, the table-eight problem. SeatSmart turns that knowledge into rules once, then does the arranging for you, every revision included.

Questions

How is this different from The Knot or Zola's seating tools?

Those are drawing tools — a blank canvas where you do all the thinking. SeatSmart is an optimizer: it scores every possible pairing against your guests' relationships and your rules, then builds the chart for you. You refine; it re-scores. They make the chart possible. This makes it good.

What does the algorithm actually consider?

Friend and family groups, which side guests belong to, age, personality mix (no all-introvert tables, no chaos tables), shared language, VIP placement, and accessibility needs — each with a weight you can adjust. Hard rules — must sit together, must not, pinned seats, zone preferences — are never violated, no matter the weights.

Can I still arrange things by hand?

Always. Drag anyone anywhere; the chart re-scores live so you can see what your override costs or gains. Lock any table and the optimizer will never touch it again.

Is my guest list private?

Yes. Your event data is yours, never shared or sold, and you can permanently delete it any time. Guest lookup and coordinator links are private tokenized URLs that you control.

I'm a venue or caterer — is this for me?
